Advocacy Partnerships

Maryland Alliance for the Poor (MAP): MAP is a statewide network that advocates on behalf of state residents who lack the basic necessities of a decent, humane life. Approximately 20 major advocacy organizations, religious groups, and service providers are members of MAP, which was founded in 1988. MAP's expertise covers a wide range of issues critical to alleviating poverty.

For more information contact Julie Varner, Chair, at (410) 269-1155.

Welfare Advocates: JOTF participates in Welfare Advocates, a statewide coalition of 500 community-based human service agencies, faith-based organizations, advocacy groups, and consumers in Maryland. Welfare Advocates operates from a strong belief that the true measure of welfare reform is not the reduction in caseloads, but whether families are in fact faring well.

For more information about Welfare Advocates, contact Kathleen Gardiner, Chair, at (410) 261-6783.
